Something you may know about medical care in Provo. Keith Morey on Jessop’s Travels

(DOUG JESSOP – JESSOP’ JOURNEYS) Health is one of those things that people take for granted until they need it. It’s good to know that Provo has a number of medical facilities available.

According to Keith Morey of Provo City, the Utah Valley Hospital has the most beds outside of Salt Lake County. Utah Valley Hospital operated by Intermountain Healthcare has an impressive staff of nine hundred doctors.

My goal with Jessop’s Journeys is to find “People, places and things you may not know.” Keith shared the following information about Provo Healthcare.

  • Utah Valley Hospital has the most beds (385) and is the busiest hospital (17,000 annual discharges) outside of Salt Lake County
  • Utah Valley Hospital is the only Level II trauma center outside of Salt Lake County
  • 900 doctors are on staff at Utah Valley Hospital
  • Other Medical Facilities in Provo – Utah Valley Clinic, Utah Valley Outpatient Center, Revere Health Medical Center, Utah Valley Physician Plaza, Utah Valley Eye Center

There are over 20,000 incorporated communities in America. While many are thriving, others are struggling. Provo City sets the standard for the city, not just locally, but nationally, as evidenced by its being named the Nation of 2001. Best run city.

So what’s the secret sauce that Provo City saidcover that earned them the nickname “Central Business District of Utah County?”

City leaders call it the “Provo Advantage.” What don’t you know about Provo? You can sign up for a monthly email at discover.

Everyone has a story. I feel it strongly “stories have power”. Chances are if you’re going through something, someone else has probably been through it too. The shared experiences that humans have can help each other. That my friend points out that the stories “Help us understand each other.

You don’t have to agree with everyone, but in my opinion, if people took more time to find out more about each other and where they’re from, we might just find that we have more similarities than differences.
