Providing the best medical care facilities to the general public: Virendra Kumar

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar visited Srinagar district today as part of the third phase of the central government’s public outreach program and has carried out an on-site assessment of the development scenario throughout the district.
During his visit, the Minister visited Bemina Children’s Hospital, Integrated Command and Control Center, HMT, Addiction Rehabilitation and Counseling Center, SMHS and Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) Bemina .
At VMS Bemina, the Minister inspected various sections of the facility and provided an update on the services extended there to disabled patients. He also carried out a first-hand assessment of the facilities available to children with disabilities at the centre.
During the visit, the minister inspected the physiotherapy and occupational therapy center, prosthetic orthopedic department, various departments, fitness room, CAM therapy units and other sections of the center. The Minister also interacted with the patients/beneficiaries and got a first-hand appreciation from the relevant staff on the facilities provided.
The Minister also gave an update on the special school for disabled children. He inspected classrooms, the vocational training center and other sections of the school.
Interacting with the officers on site, the Minister insisted on strengthening the facilities of the VMS for the improvement and rehabilitation of the disabled. He assured the management of the OM center that all possible support and assistance from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will be provided to them on a regular basis.
During his visit to the 500-bed pediatric hospital in Bemina, the Minister provided an update on the medical facilities available there to the public.
The Union Minister conducted a detailed tour of the hospital and inspected the casualty emergency ward, NICU ward, PICU ward and other sections of the hospital. He also interacted with the patients there and inquired from them about the facilities provided at the institute.
While interacting with the Principal GMC Srinagar, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital and other officers on occasion, the Minister urged them to provide the best medical care facilities to the general public. He also asked them to spread the benefits of Ayushman Bharat SEHAT program to people in a timely manner.
The Union Minister also visited the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC), HMT here and reviewed the functioning of the Centre. He interacted with the staff of the center and learned from them about the various services offered to the public through the centre.
Appreciating this government initiative, the Minister urged the officers to make maximum use of this state-of-the-art facility as it is one of the sophisticated and unique centers established under the Smart City Mission.
The Union Minister then visited the addiction counseling and rehabilitation centre, SMHS, and carried out an overall assessment of the centre. He interacted with the patients there and learned from them about the care provided at the center.
Addressing the management of the center on the occasion, the minister leaned on them to provide all possible assistance to the victims of drug addiction so that they are brought back to a normal and routine life.
Later, Dr. Virendra Kumar visited the Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan, Shalimar Center and gave an update on its functioning. He interacted with the students there and inquired with them about the facilities available at the center.
On this occasion, the minister ordered the officers to organize different kinds of extracurricular activities for the children as well as to organize special lessons for them focusing on mathematical and scientific subjects so that their inner abilities are brought to the fore.
Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ajaz Assad, Director of GMC Srinagar, Dr. Samia Rashid, senior district administration officers and other relevant officers also accompanied the minister on the visit.
