Optim Medical Center-Screven has added a new specialized service. On Monday, June 20, the hospital launched its Dermatology Outpatient Clinic at the Satellite Clinic at 102 Rocky Ford Road, across from the main Sylvania campus.

Outpatients will be able to receive treatment for a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, psoriasis, eczema and growths. Comprehensive skin exams to screen for and monitor precancerous and cancerous lesions will also be available.

Care will be administered by members of the Georgia Skin & Cancer Clinic, Dr. Sidney Smith and nurse practitioner Karen Penrose. The clinic has multiple locations across Georgia and South Carolina and offers a variety of health care services related to skin, hair, and nails.

Smith is CEO of Georgia Skin & Cancer. His training comes from several Southeast medical schools, including Georgia State University and the Medical College of Georgia, and he has over 25 years of training in dermatology. Penrose has over 30 years of nursing experience, with training at Armstrong College and Georgia Southern University.

The Sylvania Clinic will be open the third Monday of each month. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Georgia Skin & Cancer at 1-800-599-0067 and ask to be seen at Sylvania.
