OHIO STATE WEXNER MEDICAL CENTER NAMED ONE OF MOST TRUSTED HEALTH SYSTEM BRANDS

Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center is among the top five most trusted health system brands in the United States, according to research published by the Monigle brand agency. In partnership with the American Hospital Association and the Society for Health Care Strategy and Market Development, Monigle surveyed 30,138 respondents who were the health care decision makers for their household. Respondents were asked to complete the statement “is an organization people trust”. The other four most trusted health systems are Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore; UNC Health in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston; and Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.

DR. HARTER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS

Anesthesiologist Dr Ronald L. Harter has been appointed first vice-president of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) to his annual meeting in San Diego in October. The ASA is the largest organization of anesthetists in the country with more than 54,000 members nationwide. Harter is Professor Jay J. Jacoby and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and a practicing anesthetist at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. He has held numerous positions within the ASA over the past 30 years, most recently as Speaker of the ASA House of Delegates.

VIZIENT’S PHARMACY VISION AWARDS HONORS ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF OHIO STATE PHARMACY

Crystal Tubbs, associate director of the department of pharmacy at Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine at Ohio State University, received the award John Kim Strategic Sourcing Award during the inaugural year of the Vizient’s Pharmacy Vision awards. Tubbs has been recognized for its excellence in pharmacy procurement and its substantial contributions to the healthcare industry, including its commitment to COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

OHIO STATE SURGEON IS NEW PRESIDENT-ELECTED OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS

Esteemed general surgeon Dr. E. Christopher Ellison was elected president-elect from 2021 to 2022 American College of Surgeons (ACS). His election came at the end of the ACS 2021 Virtual Clinical Congress in October. He will be installed for a one-year term as AEC President in October 2022 during the Convocation ceremony for the next AEC Clinical Congress. Ellison is Robert M. Zollinger Professor Emeritus of Surgery at Ohio State University College of Medicine. ACS is a scientific and educational association of surgeons founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

DORIS DUKE FOUNDATION OF CHARITY GRANT SUPPORTS EQUITY IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation – together with the American Heart Association, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, the John Templeton Foundation, the Rita Allen Foundation and the Walder Foundation – awarded Ohio State University College of Medicine a grant of $ 550,000 through its COVID-19 Fund to retain clinical scientists. The grant will support strengthening policies, practices and processes at U.S. medical schools to advance research productivity and retention of early career faculty facing increasing family responsibilities due to the pandemic. of COVID-19. The Ohio State College of Medicine is one of 22 medical schools to receive $ 12.1 million in grants.
