Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center hosts drive-thru with supplies for local veterans | New

SPOKANE, Wash. – Today, Mann-Grandstaff Veterans Medical Center is hosting an event to give back and meet the needs of local veterans in the Interior Northwest.

The event will start at 10 a.m. at the VA where they will distribute goods and also give information on services available to veterans.

A special B-25 flyover is also planned, weather permitting, there will also be live music and 2nd Harvest will be there to hand out food boxes to families in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. The VA used to hold this event at Spokane Arena, however, in recent years they have made the switch to hosting a drive-in event to better meet the needs of local veterans. They will be working to distribute food and services to help meet some of the needs of our local veterans.

“Nowadays there is a big problem with food insecurity, so this is one way to deal with it,” said James Deen, head of the center for development and civic engagement.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and people are asked to arrive on time to help keep traffic flowing.

“This event is intended to assist veterans and serve them during their time of service and assist them when needed,” said cdc specialist and program assistant John Hausmann III. “Especially with the holidays approaching, with Thanksgiving approaching, it’s a great event to help the holiday push.”
