India sends medical assistance to Kiribati amid logistical challenges

New Delhi: In a significant and rapid move in the Pacific region, India delivered a shipment of medical supplies including PPE and medicines to Kiribati on February 12 despite logistical challenges.

Since the Pacific island nation is logistically isolated, the Indian government had to seek assistance from the Australian government in coordinating flights.

Among the supplies sent by the Indian government are pulse oximeters, swab sample bags, swabs with VTM, PPE kits (surgical masks, gloves, N95 masks, shoe covers, caps) and medicines Covid-19 emergency.

The medical supplies are said to help the Pacific island nation mitigate the Covid-19 outbreak. “Despite the logistical difficulties in reaching the remote Pacific island country, India’s medical supplies were assembled and dispatched in a short period of time,” an official statement read.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, India has been helping many countries around the world in providing essential medicines and other materials. India has supplied Made in India vaccines to around 100 countries since January 2021.

The shipment of medical supplies to Kiribati confirms India’s commitment to providing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) support as a first responder in the Pacific region, it said. -he declares.
