India: govt. launches Ayush visa to boost medical tourism

In a bid to boost medical tourism in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the launch of a special category of Ayush visa for tourists who wish to visit India for medical treatment or tourism.

According to reports, the said initiative is part of the government program
Healing in India campaign to promote medical tourism in India. As such, the government will soon launch a special campaign
Brand Ayush to give authenticity to locally produced Ayush products.



Referring to this, the Prime Minister added that India is a very attractive destination for medical tourism, which has also witnessed the increase in tourism to Kerala owing to its medical industry. This model can also be replicated across the country, where
Ayurveda, Yunani, Siddha forms of traditional medicine and wellness centers can become very popular, he added.

The government has decided to create a special visa category to facilitate the visa process for foreign travelers seeking medical treatment in India who are medical tourists, he said.

PM Modi also announced that a special Ayush brand will be created to mark the highest quality Ayush products just like the BSI and ISI brands. He explained that this would give global consumers recognized and high quality Ayush products. He also announced the creation of an Ayush park, where the products will be produced.

The Prime Minister informed that the idea of ​​an Ayush Summit came to him during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Ayurvedic medicines,
