TEHRAN – Medical tourism must be developed in Dehloran, the western province of Ilam, the provincial tourism chief has announced.

Natural hot springs are one of Dehloran’s most beautiful and amazing natural features, making it a top destination for medical tourists, the official added.

The Dehloran plain is best known for the excavations carried out on several prehistoric sites, which have elucidated the origins and development of the sedentary agricultural villages and towns in the region, and for the surveys documenting the history of colonization in the modern era. .

As a relatively small and remote rural area, it has always been affected by political, economic and technological developments in the adjacent regions of Khuzestan, Zagros Mountains and Mesopotamia. From the third millennium BC.

Although no cuneiform text has been found at any of the Dehloran sites, the most important mound, Tepe Musiyan, can be identified as ancient Urua, an Elamite city known from Mesopotamian texts.

Dehloran was on a trade route linking the Zagros Mountains to Mesopotamia; in the 1st millennium, the road connecting the Achaemenid capitals of Susa and Ecbatane crossed the region.

Since the 18th century, Dehloran has been a winter resort for local tribes.
