Singapore’s medical tourism market will grow at a steady pace thanks to

Singapore medical tourism market – TechSci Research

Rising demand for quality healthcare services and increasing disposable income of the population are expected to drive the demand for Singapore medical tourism market during the forecast period.

According to TechSci Research report, “Singapore Medical Tourism Market By Type (Inbound vs Outbound) By Services (Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Cancer Treatment, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Cosmetic Surgery, Others), By Region, Forecast & Opportunity) Report, 2026 “, the Singapore medical tourism market is expected to experience steady growth during the forecast period, 2022-2026. Medical tourism is defined as a planned trip across borders to benefit from a medical treatment, which may or may not be available in the patient’s home country. Patients prefer countries that provide quality medical treatment at affordable rates. Singapore’s health system has established international service centers to patients to provide medical tourist assistance to international patients.

They work with hospitals and provide information such as hospital pricing to patients and coordinate appointments with health specialists. Singapore is expanding the healthcare system by opening new hospitals and setting up facilities to reach other countries, encouraging them to avail medical tourism facilities. Patients prefer to take advantage of Singapore healthcare facilities for complex treatment in the fields of oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, organ transplants and stem cell transplants, among others. The availability of healthcare systems along with the support and assistance from the local tourism department and leading market authorities are expected to drive the growth of the market over the next five years.

The COVID-19 epidemic across the world, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has had a negative impact on several countries. Major authorities in Singapore have imposed lockdown restrictions and issued a set of precautionary measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Patients affected by the coronavirus began to suffer from shortness of breath, coughing and sneezing. Due to the temporary ban on international travel around the world, patients could not travel abroad for medical treatment and had to resort to health facilities in their own country.

Hospitals were overloaded with coronavirus patients and all resources were spent on treating coronavirus patients. Medical tourism has been hit hard during this period and is expected to accelerate after the easing on international travel is lifted. The availability of rapid means of transport to take the patient to the desired location, as well as the presence of attractive tourist destinations around health facilities, such as shopping malls, amusement parks, food centers, among others , are expected to boost the medical tourism industry during the forecast period. .

However, lengthy reimbursement processes and difficulties encountered during international travel, such as VISA approval issues, language barrier, unavailability of documents, may hamper the growth of the medical tourism market over the course of the year. the forecast period.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has great potential in the development of medical tourism because it has a lot of mineral hot springs and mud, and has many areas with mild climate, heard a webinar looking for ways to expand medical tourism in the country on October 6.

Vietnam’s National Tourism Administration Deputy Chief Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, environmental pollution and increasing disease are all leading to an increase in demand for health care and Medical tourism.

Many experts predict that tourists will make long trips not only for sightseeing, but also to access medical care to improve their health.

Therefore, Huong said that the development of this type of tourism will help diversify Vietnam’s tourism products, extend the stay of tourists and increase their spending.

Experts said that in Vietnam, the exploitation of resources to develop health tourism has had some success. However, these successes have not yet reached their potential, as most medical tourism service establishments are still small, with limited human resources.

Vietnam has not well exploited its rich system of medicinal plants and well-known traditional medicine to develop health tourism. /.

Thailand to revive its medical tourism sector amid COVID pandemic

BANGKOK – As the Thai government plans to reopen the country to foreign tourists as part of its learning-to-live strategy with COVID, Thai companies aim to offer COVID-related services as well as boost tourism medical.

The upscale international hospital in Bumrungrad has launched its first COVID-19 recovery clinic, offering all COVID solutions to wealthy Thais and foreigners, as the government prepares to reopen the country around November.

“The COVID-19 recovery unit is a medical center for people whose lives are affected by COVID,” Artirat Charukitpipat, director general of the hospital, said last Wednesday. The Bumrungrad unit provides care for infected patients and also treats people with “long COVID” symptoms such as lung problems.

The hospital provides treatment for outpatients and inpatients, including quarantine, intensive care and telemedicine for patients in home isolation. The hospital also offers rehabilitation services to patients with symptoms of COVID long to help them regain their strength and fully recover.

Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, Thailand’s largest private healthcare group, also offers a high-end alternative quarantine center in the heart of Bangkok. From October 1, it offers quarantine packages of seven, 10 or 14 days, depending on the traveler’s vaccination status.

Other leading hospitals in Bangkok and major cities across the country have launched similar services to meet growing demand as the country opens up to tourists and foreign investors.

This is in line with the government’s goal of promoting Thai medical tourism as part of its drive to position Thailand as the medical hub of ASEAN, providing high quality medical services at competitive prices.

“We have great potential – with medical professionals and unique Thai hospitality – to be ready to be the medical hub,” a senior official from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) told Nikkei Asia.

Currently, Thailand has 64 hospitals that meet the accreditation standards of the International Joint Commission, the highest number in ASEAN and the fourth in the world, making the country ready to take advantage of medical tourism.

The kingdom earned 59.8 billion baht ($ 1.8 billion) in 2019 before it was hit by the pandemic. This accounted for 3% of all foreign tourism revenue and was growing at around 3.5% per year, mainly serving customers from America, Europe and the Middle East.

No medical tourism income was reported in 2020-2021 as the market plunged, largely due to the lockdown. However, the Tourism Authority of Thailand remains confident in the country’s potential for medical tourism, implementing a proactive promotion plan and targeting 5% revenue growth in 2022.

This is in line with global trends – the global medical tourism industry is expected to be worth around $ 808 billion in 2021, with a growth rate of up to 7.5% per year, according to Global Wellness Economy Monitor 2017. This has left the place for Thailand to capitalize on, especially at a time when the pandemic offers new business opportunities.

With 27.7% of the total population now fully vaccinated in two injections, the government aims to reopen the country by enforcing a “living with COVID” policy. Not only are hospitals and medical companies launching services to capitalize on the strategy, but mobile operators and other businesses are also gearing up for the country to open up.

Companies in particular are offering COVID-related services to those who cannot afford expensive luxury care in high-end hospitals at a time when the need for COVID treatment could potentially increase again after borders reopen.

This would help provide medication and appropriate treatment for patients who wish to practice home isolation and help reduce bed occupancies in public hospitals if new cases of COVID rise again when the country reopens for foreign tourists.

Advance Info Service (AIS), the country’s largest mobile operator, has partnered with hospital chains and medical startups to provide free telemedicine services. The company also allows customers to use their payment points to get discounts when purchasing COVID-19 drugs and insurance.

“After living with COVID for about two years, we have found that Thais are more interested in their health and want to protect themselves from COVID,” said Bussaya Satirapipatkul, head of customer management and services at AIS.

Take health trip, promote medical tourism in India

The aim of medical tourism in India is to showcase India as a destination of high quality healthcare for people all over the world, enabling them to benefit from the country’s healthcare expertise and resources. .

(ProNewsReport Editorial): – Delhi, India, October 5, 2021 (Issuewire.com) – Medical tourism is a thriving industry in India. India’s medical tourism sector is expected to be worth $ 5-6 billion by mid-2022. In 2017, around 495,056 people traveled to India for medical treatment. There are many companies working hard to promote medical tourism in India and Make A Health Trip is one of them. In 2019, the majority of medical tourists to India were from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the ASACR region, according to research from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and industry and Ernst & Young. Medical tourists also visit India in large numbers from Australia, Canada, China, Russia, Britain and the United States. The title of Indian capital of health was obtained for Chennai.

SCOPE OF MEDICAL TOURISM IN INDIA

There is a lot of optimism in health tourism. Ayurveda, Yoga, Panchakarma, Rejuvenation Therapy, and other Indian medicinal systems are among the oldest methods of medical treatment in the world. India can provide world-class medical and health services at a reasonable cost. South India, especially Kerala, has created health tourism as one of its tourism marketing products. Health tourism has also been promoted as one of the state’s unique selling points. Ayurvedic centers are becoming an important factor in the majority of hotels and resorts. The majority of international visitors now come to India only for Ayurvedic treatments.

To support this great cause, the Indian government changed its e-tourism VISA system to include medical visas in February 2019, in order to promote applications and facilitate the travel process for medical tourists. This visa allows you to stay for a maximum of 6 months. Foreigners can get any medical treatment in India without medical visa since August 30, 2019 except organ transplants.

BENEFITS OF MEDICAL TREATMENT IN INDIA

  • Cost: Therapy spending in India starts at around a tenth of the cost of equivalent treatment in the US or UK, by most estimates. Alternative medicine, bone marrow transplant, heart bypass surgery, eye surgery, and hip replacement are some of the most common procedures sought after by medical tourists to India.

  • Quality of Care: There are 39 JCI accredited hospitals in India. However, it is essential for a patient coming to India to select the best doctor-hospital combination. After treatment, the patient has the choice of recovering at the hospital or at a nearby paid accommodation center. Many hospitals also offer telemedicine as an alternative to continuing therapy.

Chennai has been awarded the “Health Capital of India” label. Every day, around 150 international patients are admitted to multi and super-specialized hospitals in the city. Chennai is home to about 45 percent of international health tourists and 30 to 40 percent of local health tourists.

Tourists flock to the city for a variety of reasons, including low prices, little or no waiting times, and the services provided by specialist hospitals in the city. The city has around 12,500 hospital beds, only half of which are used by city residents, with the rest shared by patients from neighboring states and foreigners. Dental establishments have attracted dental tourists to Chennai.

  • Ease of travel: The government has removed visa limitations on tourist visas that required people from Gulf countries to wait two months between trips, which should encourage medical tourism. For visitors from certain countries, a visa on arrival system has been put in place, allowing foreign citizens to stay in India for 30 days for medical reasons. Bangladeshis, Afghans, Maldivians, citizens of the Republic of Korea and Nigerians received the most medical visas in 2016

  • Language: Despite the diversity of Indian languages, English is the official language, spoken by the majority of the population and almost universally by health professionals.

TAKE A HEALTH TRIP BOOSTING MEDICAL TOURISM IN INDIA

Wike calls for better healthcare investment to end medical tourism

.

By Davies Iheamnachor, PORT HARCOURT

Rivers State Governor Chief Nyesom Wike called for better investment in the country’s health sector to end medical tourism.

Wike stressed that the country is urgently strengthening public health institutions, adding that Nigerians who cannot afford medical treatment abroad do not deserve to die.

He felt that it is the primary responsibility of any government to ensure equitable access to basic health care for citizens, especially the poor and the most vulnerable in society.

Wike spoke after inspecting the ongoing construction work at the multi-billion naira Dr. Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center; basic clinical sciences and clinical sciences, the departments of nephrology and pathology at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, in Port Harcourt, yesterday.

He said the state government’s huge investment in tertiary hospital and public health infrastructure is aimed at making the state the hub of medical tourism in the country.

Wike insisted that any government that recognizes the centrality of public health and its essential role in nation building, would prioritize strengthening public health institutions so that those who cannot afford to do so to treat abroad do not die.

He said: “How many people can afford to travel abroad. We have everything we need to improve our healthcare sector, to provide the necessary facilities. We have our doctors, all we have to do is train and retrain them. Look at the Government House Hospital (Port Harcourt), see how people congregate there, because the basic facilities are there and the doctors are ready, determined to work because of the environment they have found themselves in.

“If you provide our employees with the required environment and give them the facilities, the tools to work, we don’t need to travel abroad. When people come to the Government House Clinic, they look at the facilities and say that is not what we see overseas. So we can reproduce it here in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the government should make it a priority to provide incentives and create an enabling environment that can help ensure that doctors and other medical experts do their jobs well.

“So my own motivation is that if I have the option to travel overseas, what about others who don’t have the option to travel overseas. Should they die just because they don’t have the opportunity? It is the government’s obligation to ensure that our citizens receive the best to protect their lives. It is the government’s responsibility to protect lives.

“So for me it’s our responsibility and therefore we have to do everything we can to save the lives of our people by making sure that our health care delivery system is working and that doctors are also getting the best for them. work, “he said.

Governor Wike rated the quality of work of Dr. Peter Odili Cancer, Center for Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment as very satisfactory, revealing that the contractor, Julius Berger, is working diligently to meet the project completion deadline.

He further stated that the state government does not owe the contractors who run the renal center, pathology department, basic clinical sciences or clinical science buildings at Rivers State University Hospital. . He instructed the institution to ensure that all contractors are working towards the completion of the project by May 2022.
