DAVAO CITY – With the aim of offering free hospitalization assistance to the most indigent patients, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has signed agreements with Cotabato Sanitarium hospital in Brgy. Pinaring, Sultan Kudarat and the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital in Brgy. Limpongo, Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao.
In a statement released on Monday, June 21, the MSSD said the agreements were signed on June 17 and 18 by MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie and the head of the Integrated Provincial Health Bureau of Maguindanao (IPHO), Dr Elizabeth Samama, and the head of the Cotabato Sanitarium hospital, Dr Ibrahim V. Pangato Jr.
The memoranda of understanding provide for the transfer of funds of 2 million P2 to each hospital for the hospital costs of indigent patients. These aids cover the payment of drugs, medical treatments or procedures such as laboratory fees, CT scans, dialysis, MRIs, antiretroviral therapy and chemotherapy.
âThis social intervention is part of the MSSD’s Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for the Indigent in Response to Emergencies (B-CARES), which is one of the ministry’s new regular social protection programs aimed at to provide medical assistance in the form of allocation of funds to the health of partners. facilities to accommodate patients who belong to indigent, vulnerable and disadvantaged sectors upon assessment and recommendation of designated social workers, âadded the MSSD.
He said that, through the said program, the MSSD would further expand its partnerships with other health facilities and pharmacies in Bangsamoro provinces by “supporting and continuously increasing the allocation of additional funds for 2021 and into the years. future”.
He added that the program will ensure that more indigent patients in the region will have access to hospital care.
To benefit from hospitalization assistance, âthe client or the informant may present the final hospitalization bill, the barangay indigence certificate, the account statement, the promissory note, the medical certificate, full body photos of the patient, valid identity cards of the client / informant. , and the patient must be presented and evaluated either by the social worker of the MSSD treating the regional office or the provincial office, or by the medico-social social worker assigned to the partner hospital.
MSSD has also partnered with Community Health Services Cooperative Hospital (COHESCO) in Midsayap, North Cotabato, and Dr RAM Albutra General Hospital in Kabacan, North Cotabato to serve indigent clients who reside in the areas Special Geographical Areas (SGA) BARMM or in the 63 barangays of North Cotabato under the jurisdiction of BARMM.
