The construction of the Bali International Hospital is underway. The idea is to make the resort island a global destination for medical tourism.

The construction of this hospital is the first step in the development of a 41.5-hectare health tourism park integrated with hotels, a botanical garden, as well as a medical research and training center.

Indonesia is also targeting Medan on the island of Sumatra and the capital Jakarta on the island of Java as global medical tourism destinations, but the first step is to target domestic consumers and bring back Indonesians used to traveling to the abroad for treatment.

The development of the new tourist destination on the resort island, which is expected to be completed in mid-2023, also aims to provide health services to the personnel of foreign companies investing in Indonesia.
