Ammon News –

Health Minister Firas Hawari said 2,500 vacancies and a series of measures to revive medical tourism have been put in place to boost the health sector.

On the sidelines of the national economic workshop launched at the direction of His Majesty King Abdullah in his letter to Jordanians in late January, Hawari told Petra that the health care committee that emerged from the workshop had set intergovernmental priorities to improve the health sector, including governance, information technology, promotion of medical tourism and monitoring the quality and sustainability of care provided by the health sector.

He indicated that the proposed work plan presents a new vision for the ministry regarding medical tourism, which includes specializations and pricing in accordance with clear mechanisms that achieve the full benefit for the patient from arrival in Jordan until on his departure.

Hawari expects that over the next summer Jordan will experience a recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, which will allow the ministry to reorient and redeploy health cadres to new tasks outside the context of the pandemic.
