We stage the medical tourism expos in the United States.  In our research of medical tourism we found Americans with a lot of questions and not too keen on using the Internet to track down answers.  We believe that there exists a great need for “provider-to-consumer expos” so that Americans can meet these providers and agents face-to-face.  All that existed before we entered the field last year were “business-to-business expo.” 

 

At these events a lot of medical and dental providers, agents, travel agents etc. sat around very expensive hotels in Singapore, India, Dubai or Hong Kong telling each other how to approach the America market.   Other than an Internet presence, they did not/do not have a clue. It was kinda funny seeing the blank look on SW and SE Asian faces when I told them that there were over 2.4 million pages on the web devoted to the various aspects of medical tourism and how did they expect to be found if they could not spend the money that the top 20 hospitals were spending on website optimization?  Right then you could see the light go on in some faces as to why their growth, in a huge and necessary industry, was flat.

 

No one was speaking to the consumer.  Being event planners, our natural response to was to bring medical tourism “in person to America.”  We staged one medical tourism expo last year and in 2-days we had almost 8,000 attendees with questions.  Thus we have medical tourism expos scheduled in several Western cities in 2008 including Seattle, LA and San Diego.  Next year we are adding Phoenix, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Dallas and Houston.

 

We are staging our next Medical Tourism Expo in Seattle, Washington USA the end of June 2008.
